The main aim of family class immigration is to facilitate family reunification and allows permanent immigration. Canadian Citizens or permanent residents of Canada or person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act, can sponsor certain relatives to come to Canada if they are at least 18 years old. Sponsor must meet eligibility criteria to sponsor and make a commitment to provide basic needs and to become financially responsible for the family members. Family class immigration involves assessment of sponsor’s eligibility and assessment of the sponsored individual’s eligibility.
You can sponsor:
- Spouses and partners
- Dependent Children
- Adopted Children
- Parents and grandparents
- Certain relatives if the sponsor is alone in Canada and do not have any other immediate family members to sponsor.
